Symbol for an abolitionist?

In history we are learning about reformers and I was igned the abolitionist Theodore Dwight Weld. He was born in Connecticut and helped lead peaceful campaigns for emancipation of slaves. He also wrote a couple of books trying to prove that slavery was evil. Any help of an item that would symbolize him? An example is that for transcendentalist Thoreau, someone brought in a twisted stick because he was a strong believer in nature, but the twist showed his belief that society was corrupt. Anything simple but with a lot of symbolism would be great.
