Writing a sci-fi fantasy series - What can I do about the weirdness?

maybe think up a shrine for the beggining like were every RACE X child is taken at birth and like a tree of life thing tests them and gives a part of itself to them, like if you go with the tree let them drink some of its sap. that can give them their powers. however you need to integrate the tree with life on their first planet so that it can be like they brought it to their new planet but all the trees on their old planet could do this and its the last of its kind. that would be really cool. try reading the dangerous days of daniel x because it describes something similar
